With the abundant snow pack we have, Soldier Mountain will once again host Speed Week.  This year all speed skiers will be able to race the Soldier Downhill. Soldier Mountain Alpine Racing   will be organizing several events starting witha Downhill Training Camp scheduled Monday Feb 13.  This will be open to all speed skiersinterested in getting a few laps on the Salmon River run Downhill track.  Training will start with sign ups and a meeting at the Soldier Lodge at 8AM.  Cost of the Camp is $30 plus a lift ticket.Campers willinspect the course with coaches, then section off the Easter Bump.  Campers will be able to make full length runs after trying all sections.

Tuesday will be an organized training day and race for USSA Masters, USSA Juniors and the 15th Annual Sammis Camas Memorial Cup.  The Cup is a memorial event named for Brett Sammis. Brett was a former junior racer with a touch for downhill.  He tragically lost his life in a skiing accident on Baldy.  The race not only a memorial for Brett,but a home for all of his friends to keep the downhill spirit alive. Those interested in the event, sign up at Soldier race day at the Lodge by 9AM.

Wednesday will be the final day with two Masters and two Junior Downhill races.  Emphasis will be on J3 (age 13 and 14) competitors. Soldier has the perfect introductory downhill track for kids as it is long, has lots of tucking and a couple of jumps to get a feel for speed.
